‘The Boy in the Snow’ by C. Fletcher – Review

·

“Finished in one sitting. Completely engaging and a beautiful read. Such a cosy, seasonal story (though it doesn’t have to be winter to read it!) and absolutely heartwarming, yet with such engaging twists and turns too! Plus such great LGBTQ+ representation”

Despite reading 5 books in January with an excitement about reading in the New Year, February left me in a right reading slump. I had a countdown, however, for Fletcher’s book to be released on 7th Feb and I was so excited! As soon as I could afford it, I went straight onto Amazon and bought their book. Due to health reasons I couldn’t read it immediately, which did make me a little bit sad, but finally, at the end of February, I was able to read The Boy in the Snow, and it was what pulled me out of my slump. It was my only February read and a very worthy one at that; it was incredible.

I will start by saying I will try and keep this relatively spoiler free so you can enjoy the wonderful book by yourself.

Before I touch upon the story itself, I wanted to talk about my experience reading it… I wanted to say… just wow. It captivated me. I read The Boy in the Snow in a single sitting. It was just wonderful and I felt like I was a part of the story. I really, really loved it and completely forgot the whole world around me and was living in as a part of their lives.

Now, onto the book! I appreciated how we were introduced to the characters in a manner of chaos, since this is a realistic scenario and you already feel like you belong within the setting and the family. The family are all (in my eyes) lovely and heartwarming figures and you want to be in the family and story.

I feel like there’s two stories in The Boy in the Snow. I felt that about half way through the novel the romance peaked and when it did, it could have been drawn to a close as a romance novel as it was incredible well written to tell such a story, however, the story then took a huge twist and the genre changed to create a whole new incredible story that no one would have expected.

Right. I’ve tried to keep this as spoiler free as possible (hence even name anonymity, though it’ll become obvious when you start reading it!), but I hope you’ve enjoyed this review and more importantly I hope you enjoy C. Fletcher’s incredible book!

Love always, Lauren x
